Cardiff Half Marathon 2016
In October 2016, Deano the Dementiasaurus took on his first ever challenge of running the Cardiff Half Marathon. This was a feat that had never before been attempted by a 7 foot dinosaur, but Deano was determined to prove that it could be done in order to raise lots of money for dementia research.
In the weeks and months leading up to the event, Deano's parkrunning and training around the streets of Cardiff caused quite a stir. Soon the news spread far and wide, with articles published in the newsletters of Alzheimer's Research UK, Homecare, Parkrun, and even the prestigeous CDF Runners website!
Deano had a great time on the weekend of the race, completing the family fun run, the mascot race, and of course the Cardiff Half Marathon. It was very tough and Deano was feeling more than a little faint at the end, but cheered on by the wonderful support of the Cardiff public, Deano was able to cross the finish line in 2 hours 14 minutes, to complete what would be just the first of many amazing events to drive dementia to extinction!
By completing the Cardiff Half Marathon 2016,
Deano the Dementiasaurus raised £850 for Alzheimer's Research UK
