In March 2017, Deano the Dementiasaurus went to Liverpool with his mam to do the Rock n Roll Liverpool Half Marathon. Deano's mam had never done a half marathon before. In fact, Deano's mam hadn't done any type of race to speak of and the only form of training she had attempted was to walk her dog, Rosie, somewhat further and more briskly than usual.

 

Nevertheless, the promise of raising lots of funds for Alzheimer's Research pushed Deano and his mam (but particularly his mam) to previously untapped levels of physical endurance. Not only did Deano's mam finish the race, mere yards behind Deano, but she did so whilst stoically refusing all the energy drinks and gels that were offered to her along the route.  And what's more, she didn't finish in last place, a fact which thrilled and astonished Deano's mam in equal measure.

Deano and his mam raised £100 for Alzheimer's Research UK
