Great Manchester Run 2026

Deano's latest effort to drive dementia to extinction saw him travel to Manchester. In his second race since returning to the UK earlier in the year, Deano joined 40,000 other runners to take on the challenge of the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run.

It was a humid day and a very sweaty Deano, unaccustomed to Cretaceous conditions, had to battle through cramps to get to the finish line. As always, Deano was spurred on by thoughts of his Mam - and the tens of millions of people around the world also living with Alzheimer's - as he struggled past Old Trafford, Salford Quays, and other famous Manchester langmarks. In the end, it was all worth it to raise more funds for Alzheimer's Research UK.
